Your birthday party at the Richmond SPCA? You bet! We have games, decorations, invitations and party favors. We even let you and your friends play with the animals. If your mom or dad says it’s okay, Waggles can come and say hi!
To schedule a birthday party, please ask your mom or dad to contact our education coordinator at 804-521-1327. It is recommended that parties be scheduled at least six weeks in advance for best date availability. Scroll down to the "Scheduling" heading below to read more about the scheduling process.
Times:
Weekdays - 3:30 to 5 p.m. or 5:30 to 7 p.m.
Saturdays - 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., 1 to 2:30 p.m. or 3 to 4:30 p.m.
Sundays - 12 to 1:30 p.m. or 3 to 4:30 p.m.
$135 for a party scheduled Monday-Thursday
$150 for a party scheduled Friday, Saturday or Sunday
$75 non-refundable deposit is due at the time of reservation
A basic birthday party includes up to 10 children.
$12 for each additional guest up to a maximum of 25 children
Includes: Party invitations and envelopes (mailed to you for distribution)
Animal-related goodie bags and a balloon for each child
Age-appropriate craft
Age-appropriate game
Party supplies (cups, plates, napkins, utensils, tablecloths and balloons)
Set-up and clean-up

Upgrade to a Deluxe Party: Includes an additional half hour (2-hour party), all of the amenities listed above, and each child attending the party will make his or her own furry friend, a personalized stuffed animal, to take home. The birthday guest of honor will also receive a sound card for his or her new friend and a special t-shirt that his or her guests can sign. Cost: $325 for up to ten children and $15 for each additional guest up to a maximum of 25 children ($100 non-refundable deposit due at time of reservation).
Upgrade with a Waggles Appearance: Our Humane Education mascot Waggles will make an appearance, greet party guests, and bring a surprise for the birthday boy or girl. Cost: $15
Birthday Cakes: An exclusive Richmond SPCA birthday cake from Ukrop's Bakery can be ordered for your party. Please note that these cake designs may only be ordered through the Richmond SPCA. The cost of the cakes are as follows:
- 1/2 sheet cake $36.99 serves 32 to 48
- 1/4 sheet cake $24.99 serves 16 to 24
Host an all-new ULTIMATE Party!
This 3-hour party is for up to 15 children ages 9 years and up. We ask that at least three adults also stay for the duration of the party (of course, more are always welcome!).
Our Ultimate Party package costs $485 and includes all the amenities of the basic party plus:
- Up to five dogs as guests (dogs must be spayed or neutered, vaccinated for Rabies and get along with other dogs and children)
- Three large one-topping pizzas
- 1/2 sheet cake in one of our custom designs
- Dog training! The birthday child and guests will receive two 35-minute training sessions with Richmond SPCA trainers.
- The Ultimate Party must be scheduled at least eight weeks in advance
Scheduling:
When contacting our education coordinator to schedule a party, please provide:
- Contact information
- Birthday child’s name and age
- Number of children you are inviting to the party
- Approximate age range of the children attending the party
Parents/hosts will need to provide food and drinks for party guests. We ask that the drinks not be purple or red. If you bring ice cream, a cooler will be needed. We ask that at least two adults stay for the duration of the party and additional adults are always welcome! At this time we are not able to schedule pet or grownup birthday parties.
