“This is our largest-ever Fur Ball auction, with more than 100 packages generously donated by businesses and individuals,” said Tamsen Kingry, chief executive officer of the Richmond SPCA. “The Fur Ball makes the rescue and rehabilitation of thousands of our community’s most vulnerable homeless animals possible, and we hope these deserving animals along with the fabulous packages will inspire enthusiastic and competitive bidding.”

The Richmond SPCA cared for 3,849 homeless pets between October 1, 2020 and September 30, 2021, and more than 90 percent were treated for sickness or injury before being adopted to lasting homes. The goal for the Fur Ball’s new hybrid format is to raise $600,000.

The online auction features experiences, classes and family friendly packages. Bidding is powered by GiveSmart, proving an easy, secure platform to bid from a smartphone, tablet or computer. Sign up to participate at rvafurball.givesmart.com. The auction closes Saturday, November 6 at 10:30 p.m.
