Pet Post: Winter 2024 edition

Posted on Sunday, November 12, 2023

Dear Friend,

It is profoundly moving to watch once-frightened, homeless animals suffering from illnesses or injuries blossom into confident, joyful and healthy companions with loving care and lifesaving treatment. Whether those journeys take a few days, or in some cases a few months, the transformations are extraordinary, and they are the heartbeat of what we do – with your help – at the Richmond SPCA.

Kooka Burra is among the thousands of pets in our care who found homes this year thanks to supporters like you.

This year, thanks to your support, we have been able to offer hope and healing to thousands of animals who desperately needed it. In this newsletter, we share a few of their powerful stories: Oreo, who was freed from the pain of advanced glaucoma, and Erin, Trudy, Kim and Kev, kittens with congenital eye conditions who now see the world without suffering.

These precious pets and thousands more like them are living proof of the difference the Richmond SPCA makes with your enormous help. And they also remind us that we have more work to do. Our mission to create and sustain a no-kill community where every animal is given the opportunity to live a healthy and enriched life is ongoing. Every day, we are confronted with new challenges and more animals in need. Your generosity ensures we meet those challenges head on.

As we look to the year ahead, your continued support is vital. Animals like Oreo, Erin, Trudy, Kim and Kev will rely on the Richmond SPCA – and you – to come to their rescue. Together, we will deliver the necessary treatment for them to not only survive, but to thrive.

That’s why we are dedicating every dollar raised through this newsletter to our Cinderella Fund, which covers the costs to medically treat the most at-risk animals we shelter. And, thanks to the kindness of our dear friends at the Albert C Bostwick Foundation, every gift of $50 or more to this newsletter before the end of the year will be matched up to $25,000.

Please consider making a gift today. Together, we will rescue, rehabilitate and rebuild animal lives, guaranteeing futures filled with love, safety and comfort. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your compassion, which fuels our crucial and very lifesaving work.

With warm regards and best wishes this holiday season,

Tamsen Kingry

Chief Executive Officer
