Last week, we said a heartfelt goodbye to 95 cats and 19 dogs as they left to spend their lives in their new homes! Congratulations to our newest alumni and their guardians! Check out the galleries below to see our recent adoptees.

Heartwarming moment of the week

Empty the Shelters

For the last two weeks, our humane center partnered with BISSELL Pet Foundation in an attempt to Empty the Shelters by reducing adoption fees to help make space for pets who were evacuated from areas affected by Tropical Storm Debby. All dogs and cats over the age of 6 months were $25 from August 7 through 16. During that time, 26 dogs and 32 cats found loving, lasting homes under this promotion. As reported on WRIC 8News, not only did this allow us to bring in pets from a South Carolina shelter impacted by the storm, but when a local partner, Petersburg Animal Shelter, needed support last week, we transferred all 14 cats housed at their shelter to our humane center. Additional lifesaving transfers are scheduled for this week. We are so thankful to everyone who chose to adopt!
