We Were Adopted: September 9 – 15, 2024
We’re thrilled to be celebrating the 74 pets who were adopted last week! We said goodbye to a couple of our long-term pets including Muriel and Spectre, who found their loving, lasting homes. We are so excited for our newest alumni and their wonderful adopters!

Heartwarming moment of the week
Notable adoptions
Muriel: This gentle giant came into our care back in June and the whole humane center fell in love with her. After spending some time in the shelter, she found herself in foster care where she was able to get some extra love and attention. We are so excited to share that she finally found a place to call home last week!
Spectre: This majestic boy came into our care in July, which is when we discovered he had Feline Leukemia (FeLV). FeLV is contagious to other cats, often times making it more challenging to find homes for felines with the virus. Luckily, Spectre was very patient with us while we searched for his purrfect adopter, and we are so happy to share that he found a home last week!
Black cat adoptions
Statistically, black cats stay in the shelter longer than others, so we were excited to be a part of this black cat adoption event last week! Black cats from the Richmond SPCA and Richmond Animal League made their appearance on Friday the 13th at the Poe Museum where a total of 20 felines found loving, lasting homes just in time for spooky season!
Staff adoptions
A couple of staff members couldn’t say no to some sweet faces last week. Alexandra and Atemoya are two cats who found their match with Richmond SPCA staff!
