We Were Adopted: September 30 – October 6, 2024

We had another great week of adoptions! Last week, 80 pets found loving, lasting homes including long-term pets like Symphony and Bitsy. Congratulations to our newest alumni and their guardians!
If you’ve been thinking about adding a furry friend to your family, now is the pawfect time! Adoption fees for all adult dogs are discounted by 25% for the whole month of October for our Subaru Loves Pets promotion. Adoption fees for adult dogs are also waived this Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday to make space in our humane center to assist with further disaster relief pleas. Disaster relief
Last week, we were greeted by pleas for assistance from communities in western North Carolina devastated by flooding in the aftermath of Hurricane Helene. We assisted by taking in 30 cats and 12 dogs who will be available for adoption after receiving thorough veterinary exams, treatment for any medical concerns and sterilization surgeries.
We are so appreciative of all of the staff and volunteers who came together to help safely transport these pets and welcome them at our humane center. We are also extremely thankful for our community who donated various items to send back to areas impacted by the hurricane in such a quick turnaround.

Big Feral Day
On Friday we had our Big Feral Day where we closed our Susan M. Markel Veterinary Hospital to perform a high volume of Trap-Neuter-Vaccinate Return surgeries. Our team and our friends from Banfield Pet Hospital put their hands together to help 127 unowned community cats get spayed, neutered and vaccinated against rabies.
We also want to give a big thank you to The Lucky Paw Foundation for their generous donation of 18 brand new fans we were able to use during recovery.
