Compassion in Action: October 2024
October marks the start of our 2025 fiscal year, and it was a big kick off to a new year across all of our operations. Collaboration, one of the Richmond SPCA’s values, was the connecting theme of two important events we hosted.
The medical teams from our Smoky’s Spay & Neuter Clinic and Susan M. Markel Veterinary Hospital teamed up with volunteers from Banfield Pet Hospital on October 8 to host our largest single-day yet of Trap, Neuter, Vaccinate, Return surgeries. Together they sterilized and vaccinated 127 unowned, free-roaming community cats, all at no charge. The next week we partnered with Richmond Animal Care and control to deliver free vaccines to more than 280 dogs in a drive-up clinic. Petco Love generously supplied vaccines to prevent parvo and distemper, and the RACC Foundation purchased and donated rabies vaccines.
In the graphics below, we provide a glimpse of many more ways compassion is in action:
74,304 lives saved since becoming no-kill in 2002
Recurring monthly gifts from our Pet Pals donors ensure we are prepared to say “yes” to the next pet or person in need of help. A small monthly gift adds up over the course of the year, equipping us to shelter, treat, train and more. Join the Pet Pal ranks today to help save lives every month!
