Our adoption bell rang 58 times last week! Pets like Hammie Mae, Mojo Man, Bellatrix and Valentino found loving, lasting homes. Thank you to the wonderful adopters who opened up their hearts to these adorable pets.

Heartwarming moment of the week

Love was in the air!

Last week, 58 pets found a Valentine just in time for the howliday! Our Dog Speed Dating was a hit, and we are so happy for everyone who found their pawfect match!

Celebrating No-Kill Practices

On Friday, the Richmond SPCA joined fellow no-kill shelters at the General Assembly, alongside Best Friends Animal Society, celebrating the remarkable lifesaving progress for homeless dogs and cats being made throughout the Commonwealth. In 2024, more than half of Virginia’s shelters achieved a 90% or better live release rate—the nationally-recognized benchmark for no-kill—and most others are within striking distance of that crucial target. Notable adoptions

Mojo Man: In 2023, Mojo Man walked through our doors but on Valentine’s Day 2025, Mojo Man walked out of the Richmond SPCA with his pawfect match. We are so happy for this handsome boy and his new person! Congratulations.

LA Wildfire Pups: Agape, Be Mine, Darling and Valentino are four dogs who were transferred into our care to make space in shelters affected by the LA wildfires. We are so happy to share that they found their loving, lasting homes last week. They traveled across the country to find a home of their own, and today we are celebrating their adoptions!
