Spring is in the Air. The Richmond SPCA’s Dog Jog, 5K & Block Party Returns Saturday, March 22, 2025.
The Richmond SPCA’s signature Dog Jog, 5K and Block Party is back for another fun-filled day on Saturday, March 22, 2025! Presented by Holiday Barn Pet Resorts, this family- and pet-friendly event will take place at the Richmond SPCA’s humane center on Hermitage Road.
This year’s event will feature the same exciting lineup of activities, including our chipped-timed 5K (presented by Williams Mullen) for runners, the 1-mile Dog Jog presented by Apex Systems, a division of ASGN, Inc., and a Kids’ Fun Run sponsored by RVA Pediatrics. Say hi to our emcees CBS 6 meteorologist Zach Daniel and his famous companion, Walter the Weather Dog, and the hosts of Mornings with Ray Gee and Kobe on Classic Rock 96.5. Plus, our Block Party, sponsored for the third year in a row by Moore Subaru, will once again feature live music by Sold Separately, a vendor marketplace, food trucks and drinks — with admission completely free!
A special highlight of this year’s event is our exclusive Dog Jog & 5K T-shirt, designed by Billie Claire Illustration and featuring our 2025 mascot, Myrtle! The first 1,000 registrants will receive a T-shirt, medal and a swag bag filled with goodies from event sponsors.
“Over the past 23 years, this event has become a cherished tradition that brings together our community in support of homeless pets,” said Richmond SPCA Chief Executive Officer Tamsen Kingry. “We count on seeing so many adopters, runners, families, friends, and of course their dogs. With everyone’s help, we’ll reach our goal of raising $215,000 this year.”
Funds raised will support the 18,000+ pets the Richmond SPCA serves each year, including approximately 4,000 homeless dogs and cats that receive shelter, rehabilitation and adoption into loving homes. Proceeds also benefit lifesaving services like low-cost veterinary care, a free behavior helpline, training classes and humane education programs.
