Pet Post: Winter 2025 edition

Dear Friend,
As the calendar year comes to a close, and we look ahead to a holiday season filled with laughter and love, we want you to know how full our hearts are from the impact you make on the thousands of pets who come through our doors each year.
More than half the animals arrive through transfer from nearly 80 partner agencies, often with minimal information on where they’ve been and what they experienced along the way. Our pet support, animal care, training, and veterinary teams take extraordinary steps to assess each animal and create individualized plans to treat, train, enrich and prepare them to thrive in a new home.

Some cases are tougher than others. Whether it is a complex diagnosis, multiple surgeries, or simpler, yet essential, preventive medical care, many pets’ outcomes would be drastically different without timely treatment. In many cases, our professional veterinary staff deliver this treatment over an extended period, requiring consistent monitoring and medications to fully heal the pet.
The stories we share with you this season represent just a fraction of the lifesaving work that happens at our center and in foster homes throughout the year. Without a dedicated community that cares deeply about the life of every pet, we simply could not provide the level and volume of medical care needed to support our mission to achieve and sustain a no-kill community.
Sheath’s ability to see, Goose’s tumor-free body, and Jack’s recovery from parvovirus are directly attributed to the people that fight alongside us, including you. We hope you will continue to be on this journey as we strive to give each pet entrusted to our care the happy outcome they deserve.
Your donation in response to this newsletter will go directly to our Cinderella Fund, a special pool of resources utilized by our veterinary team to deliver lifesaving treatment and rehabilitation to thousands of pets in a single year. Thanks to the kindness of our dear friends at the Albert C Bostwick Foundation, every gift of $50 or more to this newsletter before the end of the year will be matched up to $25,000.
I am immensely grateful for your partnership in this crucial work, and I wish you and your family — including those with four legs — a happy, healthy and prosperous new year.
With heartfelt appreciation,

Tamsen Kingry
