Advanced Canine Manners

July 15 – September 9, 2021
No class on July 22 or July 29
Thursdays at 6:15 p.m.

Instructor: Alisha Fritz

Prerequisite: Canine Manners, Surviving Adolescence or equivalent basic manners course. Dogs should have been introduced to the following before attending this class: sit, down, stay, come and leave it. Humans should be familiar with the basics of marker/clicker training.

Advanced Canine Manners is designed to advance the skills your dog already learned in Canine Manners or Surviving Adolescence.  We will explore more deeply the science of dog training and cover behaviors and training tools such as:

  • Advancing your dog’s stay, leave-it and recall
  • Behavior chains
  • Drop
  • Stand
  • Release cues
  • No reward markers
  • Distance/off-leash exercises (off-leash training will be simulated using long lines for safety)
  • Distraction exercises
  • And more!

All sessions of class are with dogs.

All dogs must be up-to-date on vaccinations and at least 6 months old.

Seven-session, one-hour class in the second half of Smoky’s Training Center.
