Good Start Puppy 2

January 5 – February 16, 2024
Fridays at 2:00 p.m.

Please read the Richmond SPCA Training Class COVID-19 Policies before attending your first class.

Instructor: Emily Bromseth

For puppies 16-24 weeks of age at the start of class. Getting your puppy started on the right track is very important. Good Start Puppy combines socialization, problem prevention, an introduction to training, and most importantly, fun!  Your puppy can start learning anything at this age, but you have a short window to help mold how he or she will see the world as an adult.

We will concentrate on socialization with people and other dogs while introducing foundational manners and skills. We will also spend time on exercises to help prevent common behavior challenges. Lots of playtime with other puppies is included, and your dog may make life-long friends!

We will discuss:

  • The importance of socialization at an early age
  • How to identify friendly play with other dogs
  • Come
  • Confidence building
  • Jumping up
  • Leash walking
  • Resource guarding prevention
  • Body handling
  • Mouthing

All puppies must be 16-24 weeks of age and current on vaccinations.

Seven-session, one-hour class in Smoky’s Training Center, Richmond, VA. $150
