Managing a Reactive Dog
October 20th – December 1st, 2024
Sundays at 7:00 p.m.
Please review our Covid-19 training class policies before attending your first class.
Instructor: Mariah Dudley
Managing a Reactive Dog is a course for dogs who frantically growl, bark and lunge at dogs, people, or moving objects while out on walks. We will complete exercises designed to address the root cause of reactivity: the emotional state of the dog. We will also complete exercises that help the dog have better focus on his or her guardian and teach behaviors other than reacting. These exercises are designed for everyday dog guardians who are not professional trainers. Our goal is to help you maintain better control of your companion. The first class is for people only.
This is a very structured class where all dogs start off with their own enclosed training space and are slowly introduced to the sight of other dogs and people.
We will not cover how to introduce your dog to new animals or people.
As a matter of safety, all guardians must be able to fully control their dogs on leash both in our building and in the parking lots. The dogs are not expected to be perfectly behaved or have previous training, but guardians who cannot appropriately manage their dogs may not be able to remain in class.
If you have any questions regarding whether this class is right for you and your dog, please call Gail Bird Necklace at 804-521-1332.
Seven-session, 1-hour class, Richmond, VA. $180.
