Support the Richmond SPCA and tour a mature north-Richmond garden at the same time!
Sheila and Stephen Weisensale and their beloved dog Morgan (a happy Richmond SPCA alum) live in an 80+ year old home in the historic Ginter Park community in north Richmond. Their backyard garden, which also serves as Morgan’s playground, hosts a number of garden areas that showcase their extensive collection of plant material including perennials, annuals, herbs, bulbs, grasses, vines, and shrubs, all selected to provide near year-round color from February through November. These flowering plants and their foliage also serve as a home-grown source of bloom materials for Sheila’s pressed flower design business. Meanwhile, their front yard is a landscape consisting primarily of less-common shrubs and trees that thrive in a Zone 7 garden with a sprinkling of favorite perennials.
The Weisensales’ garden will be open to tour on Saturday, June 15, from 9 a.m. to noon, rain or shine. Your donation of $10 per visitor at the gate will support the Richmond SPCA.
Support the Richmond SPCA and see a garden that has lots of color and unusual plant material, while still accommodating a pooch that loves to chase its various “other” inhabitants. Yes, you can have a dog and still have a lovely garden to enjoy! But in this case, we ask that you please leave your four-legged friends at home.
