Polite Greetings Workshop

June 27, 2021
Sunday 12:00 – 1:30 p.m.

Please review our Covid-19 training class policies before attending your first class.

Instructor: Joanne Bignoux McMahon

This workshop will cover non-aversive techniques for training dogs to remain on the ground when greeting their human family and guests.  We will discuss the differences between greeting or eliciting attention when humans are standing, sitting or in motion.  We will also go over how to help with jumping due to excitement at times such as meals and while being leashed. Enrolled dogs must be up-to-date on vaccinations and at least 4 months old.

Items to bring:

  • Your dog wearing a flat collar or harness
  • 4 or 6 foot leash, no retractable leashes or flexi leads
  • At least 3 types of soft treats your dog loves (hot dogs, cheese, chicken, etc.)
  • A training pouch or fanny pack (plastic bags and pockets will not work well)

Enrolled dogs should have been introduced to basic manners such as sit and down, and should be under control in the presence of other dogs and humans. This workshop is not appropriate for dogs who are reactive to people or other dogs (frantic barking/lunging/pulling). Dogs must be up-to-date on vaccinations and at least 4 months old.

90 minute workshop with dogs in Smoky’s Training Center.
