Would You and Your Dog Make a Good Therapy Team?

November 3, 2021
Wednesday 6:30 – 8:00 p.m.
Eastern

Instructor: Janet Velenovsky

When pandemic restrictions are lifted, there will likely be increased requests for therapy dogs to visit children and adults in schools, hospitals, retirement communities, and many other settings. You may have thought about volunteering with your dog in this way, but how do you know if your dog is really suited for therapy work? And what should you know as a handler? How does one get started?

This workshop will give you insight into requirements, best practices, costs, timeframes, and the characteristics needed for both the dog and people parts of the therapy work equation. Please join us to learn about therapy registration organizations nationwide and in our area, what’s involved in testing, and tips for success. We will also discuss the differences between emotional support animals, service animals, and therapy animals.

90 minute virtual workshop via Zoom.
