SUMMARY:History Hounds Explore Oregon Hill Walking Tour
DESCRIPTION:Explore Oregon Hill with your pup on this special History Hounds tour\, presented in partnership with the Richmond SPCA. Oregon Hill originated as a residential area for employees of Tredegar Iron Works\, and today it remains a vibrant part of Richmond’s landscape. Learn about the Angel of Oregon Hill\, the lesser-known William Byrd III\, Hollywood Cemetery\, the infamous Virginia State Penitentiary and more as we explore the history and architecture of this unique Richmond neighborhood.\n\nHistory Hounds Walking Tours are made possible through the partnership between the Valentine and the Richmond SPCA. Dogs must be up-to-date on vaccines\, mix well with others (both human and canine) and remain on a leash. Pet guardians are responsible for water and cleaning up after their dogs.\nAdvanced tickets are required. Tickets are non-refundable.\nPlease note that this tour is 1.5 to 2 miles in length. We recommend you wear comfortable walking shoes\, use a non-extendable leash for your dog\, bring water\, a bowl and bags for pickup.\nAccessibility: People of all abilities are encouraged to join us. If we can do anything to accommodate your needs\, please let us know in advance by emailing tours@thevalentine.org.\nTours are held rain or shine. However\, in extreme weather\, a tour may be cancelled. Notifications about tour status and cancellation will be sent to registrants via email. You can also call 804-649-0711 x 301 to verify a tour will take place.\nThe Valentine’s walking tours are supported in part through a generous partnership with Richmond Region Tourism and The Valentine Museum.
