Briana Whittaker-Oliver Critter Camp Scholarship

The Briana Whittaker-Oliver Critter Camp Scholarship fund was created in partnership with Legacy for Bri in memory of Briana Nichele Whittaker-Oliver, who passed in 2021. Briana volunteered with the Richmond SPCA during her teenage years, and was an avid animal lover who dreamed of becoming a veterinarian. In honor of Briana’s kind heart, the Briana Whittaker-Oliver Critter Camp Scholarship will sponsor students from Thomas H. Henderson Middle School, Briana’s alma mater, to attend the Junior Shelter Vet advanced camp sessions.

What is Critter Camp?

Critter Camp is a terrific educational opportunity for animal-loving children to visit and learn about the Richmond SPCA. Every summer we offer fun and educational week-long day camps for children between the ages of 6 and 13. The Briana Whittaker-Oliver Critter Camp Scholarship will provide funding for students of Thomas H. Henderson Middle School to attend the Junior Shelter Vet session, where campers will participate in hands-on activities designed to teach veterinary skills and showcase the importance of animal medicine. Veterinarians and veterinary technicians are predicted to be some of the most in-demand professionals in the next decade, and we hope to inspire the next great generation of veterinary professionals!
