Rhoadmiller Street Detours
City utility work on Rhoadmiller Street in front of our humane center and hospital will temporarily change how you get to the Richmond SPCA beginning Wednesday, June 18. We will update this page with changes to traffic patterns as needed.
All parking lots are accessible via a short detour. Rhoadmiller Street will be closed at the intersection with Hermitage Road. Just follow the detour signs from Hermitage Road to Cummings Drive, then to Hardy Street and finally onto Rhoadmiller Street.
The intersection of Rhoadmiller and Hermitage Road will be closed to through traffic. Please follow the posted detour onto Cummings Drive, take a right on Hardy Street, and right on Rhoadmiller Street. The intersection of Hardy and Rhoadmiller streets will be posted “no thru traffic;” however clients accessing the Richmond SPCA will be permitted to travel on this section of Rhoadmiller to access Lots A, B and C.
Parking
Lot A
The westernmost entrance to Lot A (nearest Hermitage Road) is closed. Please follow the posted detour to reach the second entrance to Lot A. This is the best lot to use for our humane center’s main entrance:
Lot B
This lot is nearest to our Volunteer Welcome Center.

- Pickup for Critter Campers
Lot C
This lot is nearest to our Susan M. Markel Veterinary Hospital and Smoky’s Training Center.

Hermitage Road Detours
As part of the Diamond District construction, a section of Hermitage Road is also closed for ongoing utility work which started Monday, May 12.
The water main installation crosses Hermitage Road just north of the intersection with Rhoadmiller Street (where our humane center is located). Both north-bound and south-bound lanes will be closed.
Traffic from Hermitage Road will detour down Rhoadmiller to Hardy and back onto Sherwood as shown on the map below.
