Pet Post: Fall 2024 edition
Dear Friend,
Since 2002 I have had the honor of working for the Richmond SPCA, and I am filled with gratitude for the journey of our organization. We have evolved and expanded to consistently meet the changing needs of our community, and with your help, we have made enormous lifesaving progress possible across the region. Today, I am delighted to share with you the exciting next chapter in our story.
After more than a year of thoughtful planning among our dedicated staff and board, we are thrilled to reveal to you – our dearest friends – our updated vision, mission, values and promises along with a refreshed logo and tagline.
While our “look” and some of our language is changing, what hasn’t changed is our faithful commitment to no-kill, which has been our guiding star for more than two decades thanks to the leadership of my predecessor Robin Starr and Chairmen Emeriti Claiborne Robins and Emerson Hughes, who boldly took our organization no-kill in the early 2000s.
Our updated guiding statements simply reflect our values and strategic goals in terms we believe are clearer and more accessible today, helping us connect more effectively with our partners, supporters and the communities we work alongside.
Over our 133-year history, and particularly over the last quarter of a century, the Richmond SPCA has courageously advocated for animals, developed cutting-edge programming, and been a leader in animal welfare. You can count on the Richmond SPCA to continue doing all these things and to build upon our legacy of lifesaving.
We are energized by this new chapter and are confident our fresh look and updated guiding statements will further amplify the positive impact we have on animals and the people who love them.
We hope you enjoy this sneak peek at our new branding, which over the coming weeks you will see reflected on our platforms, merchandise, materials and more. We deeply value your enduring support and are grateful to have you as a part of the Richmond SPCA family.
With my enormous thanks,
Tamsen Kingry
Chief Executive Officer
