We're excited to share that 137 pets found homes during Clear The Shelters, and we're so thankful to those who adopted last week, allowing us to welcome new pets needing our help.

Notable adoptions

Peach Cobbler: Peach Cobbler is a sweet 8-year-old who had been in and out of our care since October 2025. During her stay with us, she quickly became a staff and volunteer favorite, ultimately stealing the heart of one of our very own employees who took her home last week. We're so excited for this precious pup and her perfect match.

Parasol: Parasol is a loving 10-year-old who came into our care in May. When she first arrived, our veterinary team found that this affectionate senior is blind and deaf. Because of her age and limitations, she was overlooked for some time, but finally found her person last week. Congratulations!

Tinsel: We're thrilled to share that Tinsel is another senior pup who found her lasting, loving home during Clear The Shelters. We first met this precious 13-year-old in 2014 and she's been in and out of our care looking for a place to call home ever since. Luckily, Tinsel caught the eye of someone special, and we were able to celebrate her adoption last week.

Dollar: Dollar came into our care in January and needed medical attention which prolonged his stay with us. He made many friends in various foster homes while he received medical care, and finally became available for adoption in July. After 7 months at the Richmond SPCA, Dollar now has a cozy home and family of his own.

Clear The Shelters

Last week, the Richmond SPCA participated in Clear The Shelters, a nationwide adoption initiative. This lifesaving event was made possible by the generosity of the Betty J. Parmer Trust, honoring Betty’s compassion for animals and celebrating the pets who brought joy to her life, especially her beloved dog Max.

Thanks to the wonderful adopters who brought pets home during this week of fee-waived adoptions, we're now able to help save more lives.
