We Were Adopted: July 21 - 27, 2025

We’ll give you something to celebrate! Last week, 113 precious pets found their lasting, loving homes. We’re thrilled for pets like Caramel, Kewpie, Izumi and Penelope, who all met their perfect matches. Huge congratulations to all of our adopters and newest alumni!

Looking for your purrfect companion? Now through August 1, adoption fees are waived for all adult cats! Creamsicle, a 2-year-old cat who was adopted from the Richmond SPCA on June 27, inspired his new guardian, Rob Fox, to sponsor adoptions, helping other adult cats find lasting, loving homes. Come by this week to meet your match!

Notable adoptions

Caramel: Caramel came into our care in February, and our veterinarians quickly discovered he had facial injuries that needed urgent attention. Due to severe glaucoma and blindness that were affecting his quality of life, Caramel required an eye removal. He also needed surgery to repair his lip, but he braved through it all like a champ.

During his treatment, one of our veterinary assistants at our Susan M. Markel Veterinary Hospital fell in love with Caramel’s sweet, friendly personality and knew he was meant to be hers. Now named Freddie, this lovable orange boy is home for good. Congratulations to Liv and Freddie on their happy new beginning!

Kewpie: Kewpie is a sweet pup who had been in our care since March. After spending so much time in the shelter, she began to experience some stress in the busy environment. Thankfully, she recently had a much-needed break in foster care, and that’s when her true personality began to shine.

She thrived in a home setting, and we were determined to find the right match for her. Luckily, we didn’t have to wait long! Shortly after returning from foster care, Kewpie found her perfect person. We’re so excited for Kewpie and her new best friend!

Izumi: Izumi came into our care in January, and we're so excited to share that she found her home last week! While she was a bit shy at the Richmond SPCA, Izumi blossomed during her time in foster care, where she learned to trust people. Her foster shared that she became affectionate and playful, and even opened up to being held! With time, patience and lots of love, Izumi not only gained confidence, but also gained a wonderful new family. Congratulations!

Penelope: If you know Penelope (or Penny as some staff members like to call her), you know she has the sweetest submissive grin in town. She put so many smiles on our faces, and after being in and out of our care since 2024, we're happy to share that she found her perfect match last week. Congratulations to Penelope and her guardian!
