We Were Adopted: October 7 - 13, 2024

We’re thrilled to share that 90 pets were adopted last week! We waved farewell to precious pets like Beastie and Horus, who found loving homes. We are so excited for our newest alumni and their wonderful adopters! Check out the galleries below to see who else went home.

We're continuing to discount adoption fees for all adult dogs by 25% for the month of October for our Subaru Loves Pets promotion, in partnership with Moore Subaru of Richmond. We'd love for you to stop by our shelter to find your new best friend!

Heartwarming moment of the week

Angelica's adoption

Last Monday, our adoption counselor Jeff united Angelica, a senior dog, with Ms. Shirley, thanks to our Seniors for Seniors adoption program. While Shirley initially expressed interest in another dog, she discovered the younger pup was much too strong and energetic. Jeff suggested she meet Angelica, and it was love at first pet. The Carol Young Godin Seniors for Seniors program provides special adoption benefits to senior adults, age 60 and older who give a home to a pet who's 5 years or older.

Adoptions of North Carolina transfers

You probably noticed that quite a few of the pets in the galleries above have blue hearts on their photos. These are pets whom we transferred into our care from communities in western North Carolina that were devastated by flooding from Hurricane Helene. They were already homeless before Helene struck, and we're thrilled that they've begun finding homes where they can start their new lives.
