Carol Young Godin Seniors for Seniors Program

Carol Young Godin

Our Carol Young Godin Seniors for Seniors adoption program helps senior adopters experience all the benefits of animal companionship.

Anyone who has experienced the effect of petting a purring cat or a wagging dog is aware of the mood-boosting benefit of spending time with animals. A growing body of research shows how interacting with animals can decrease stress hormones, lower blood pressure and reduce feelings of loneliness.

Senior adopters (age 60 and older) who adopt a senior pet (age 5 and older) receive:

  • Personalized assistance from our adoption staff in finding a senior cat or dog who fits the adopter’s home and lifestyle
  • Welcome home kit for your new pet
    • For cats: litter box, food and water bowls, litter scoop, toy and a cardboard scratcher
    • For dogs: leash, collar, food and water bowls and a toy
  • Discounted adoption fee of $50
  • Access to low-cost veterinary care at our Susan M. Markel Veterinary Hospital

Visit our Adoption Center or call 804-521-1307 for assistance from our adoption counselors in finding the perfect senior cat or dog.
