Compassion in Action: August 2025

Each August since 2015, we have participated in the national Clear The Shelters adoption initiative. What began as a one-day event has expanded to a month-long focus on adopting from and donating to shelters across the country. For 2025, a generous sponsorship from the Betty J. Parmer Trust paid adoption fees at the Richmond SPCA for a full week.

Between August 18 and 24, a total of 116 pets went home at no cost to their adopters. The Betty J. Parmer Trust’s support also made room for more animals in need to enter our care. Our Pet Support Services team brought in 96 animals that week and 106 more in the last week of August.
