STERILIZATION SERVICES

for shelters, rescues and community cats

Smoky’s Spay & Neuter Clinic

The Richmond SPCA Smoky’s Spay & Neuter Clinic, located at 7088 Mechanicsville Turnpike, opened in 2022. This satellite location provides sterilization services to shelter and rescue organizations and community cat caregivers performing Trap-Neuter-Vaccinate-Return (TNVR).

Shelters and Rescues

We request that all patient communications with our staff come from an authorized representative of the public shelter or private rescue organization that has custody of the animal.

Services

Smoky’s Spay & Neuter Clinic is not a full-service veterinary hospital. We provide spay and neuter surgeries as well as limited additional services on the day of the sterilization procedure.

Our services are available to pets in the care of local government animal control agencies and private rescue organizations (registered 501(c)(3)s). Shelter and rescue clients must be based in Virginia and file annual custody records to the Virginia Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services.

Scheduling

Please contact us at 804-368-6232 and/or snip@richmondspca.org for information and instructions for scheduling. Our business hours are Monday through Thursday from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Cancellation policy: Two business days’ notice is required to cancel a scheduled appointment without incurring a fee. Late cancellations will be charged half the cost of the scheduled procedure.

No-show policy: If the patient is not brought for a scheduled appointment, we will charge the full cost of the sterilization surgery.

Costs and Fees

Each surgery fee covers the sterilization and post-operative pain injection. Oral medication will be sent home with the patient at the discretion of the veterinarian.
