PET REHOMING

Pet Rehoming

Our free rehoming service is available for guardians who are unable to continue caring for their pets but who want to manage their pets’ placements with other responsible, loving guardians.

Looking to adopt a pet who’s being rehomed?

The pets listed below are being rehomed directly by members of our community and are not at our humane center.

If you would like to meet a pet listed on our rehoming page, please make arrangements directly with the guardian listed on the pet’s profile. Potential adopters are responsible for communicating with the pet’s guardian to acquire veterinary records, document transfer of ownership and other necessary information.

All information contained in the pets’ descriptions on this rehoming page has been provided by their current guardians. Accuracy has not been verified by the Richmond SPCA.

Avoiding scams

Our staff reviews each listing for pets being rehomed; however, we have not met the guardians or pets and urge caution in your interactions. To flag a suspicious rehoming listing, please email us

  • Do not send any type of payment or deposit for a pet you have only seen online.
  • Schedule an in-person meeting at a safe, public location.
  • Cross-reference photos using Google reverse image search — many scammers use stock photos or images published elsewhere on the internet.
  • Request veterinary records and review the pet’s medical history before completing the adoption. Ensure the owner’s information recorded by the veterinarian matches the person with whom you are corresponding.
