Cheers! Legend Brewing Company introduces pair of limited releases, Nita IPA and Willa Pilsner, raising funds for the Richmond SPCA
RICHMOND, Va.— The two latest offerings from Legend Brewing Company feature French hops in a tribute to the dogs who inspired them – Nita and Willa. The brewery will celebrate the dogs and their beers on May 27, 2023, while supporting the care of homeless pets at the Richmond SPCA.
Returning for its fourth year at the Richmond SPCA’s 24th Annual Fur Ball on Saturday, November 5, 2022, this popular auction package presented the opportunity to work with the brewers at Richmond’s Legend Brewing Company on a limited-release beer to feature the winning bidder’s own pet on the label. This year’s winning bid from Deanna and Joe Moore resulted in the creation of a pair of beers with profiles as distinct as the personalities of the couple’s two dogs.
Nita IPA is brewed with Barbe Rouge and Mistral French hops that balance fruity sweetness and subtle, earthy bitterness for a crisp, refreshing finish. Willa Pilsner gets its both floral and spicy notes from a combination of Strisselspalt and Elixir French hops that balance with a light malt profile.
For each four pack and pint of Nita IPA and Willa Pilsner sold on Saturday, May 27, Legend Brewing Company will donate $1 to the Richmond SPCA. The Richmond Brewpub is open from 11:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. with outdoor and indoor dining available along with an option for pickup. Kobe from Classic Rock 96.5 will DJ on the deck from 2 to 4 p.m. Dog-friendly tables will be available outside, and the Richmond SPCA will have a prize wheel and photo opportunities in a dog kissing booth.
“Our animal companions are the heart and soul of our families,” said David Gott, Legend Brewing Company’s vice president of operations. “Legend Brewing is proud to work with the Richmond SPCA to help the many hearts and souls that pass through their care find and complete a family of their own.”
The Moores’ winning bid of $12,500 for the auction package went to the Richmond SPCA’s Cinderella Fund, which delivers lifesaving veterinary treatment to sick and injured homeless dogs and cats in the local humane society’s care.
Richmond SPCA Chief Executive Officer Tamsen Kingry said, “We are eager for the community to come out to Legend Brewing to taste these incredible beers that celebrate the Moores’ adorable dogs. Their generous support has already provided lifesaving veterinary care to hundreds of pets at the Richmond SPCA, and together we will provide medical treatment and rehabilitation to thousands more dogs and cats this year.”
